Abstract: The title compound, [Ni(C16H14N2O2)]·C3H7NO, crystallizes with one Ni(salen) molecule [salen is N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminate)] and one dimethylformamide molecule in the asymmetric unit. The molecular structure is similar to that of the solvent-free compound, known from the literature. In the crystal structure, the nearly planar molecules are stacked to form polymeric chains in the crystallographic b direction. The crystal structure has pseudo-translational symmetry (superstructure).
