2,6-Bis(4-methylphenyl)-3-phenylpiperidin-4-one

Abstract: In the title molecule, C₂₅H₂₅NO, the piperidone ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. The two methylphenyl rings are oriented differently with reference to the central piperidone plane. The crystal packing is characterized by C-H and C-HO interactions. It can be concluded that the stable conformation is the same in the solid state as in solution.
