Abstract: The title tetracyclic compound, C₂₉H₄₀O₇, has been obtained unexpectedly in a synthetic study of the natural diterpenoid, paclitaxel. There is an intramolecular O-HO hydrogen bond between the hydroxy and benzyloxy groups.
