Tetraamminehexabromodiscandium(III)

Abstract: The title compound, [Sc₂Br₆(NH₃)₄], was obtained by the reaction of ammonium bromide, (NH₄)Br, with scandium metal in a sealed tantalum container. The crystal structure contains isolated dimers of bromide edge-connected [Sc-mer-(NH₃)₃Br₃] and [Sc(NH₃)Br₅] octahedra. Sc(NH₃)₂Br₃ is isotypic with Sc(NH₃)₂Cl₃.
