Dichloro[(6R,7S,8S,14R)-(-)--isosparteine-²N,N']zinc(II)

Abstract: The title compound, [ZnCl₂(C₁₅H₂₆N₂)], was obtained as a by-product during the synthesis of the corresponding complex of the naturally occurring ligand (6R,7S,8S,14S)-(-)-sparteine, as a result of impurity of the starting material. The molecule lies on a twofold axis. The geometry around the Zn^II ion is highly distorted from tetrahedral, with a dihedral angle between the ZnN₂ and ZnCl₂ planes of 71.58  (6)°.
