(+)-6-Benzyl-17-oxosparteine

Abstract: The title compound, C₂₂H₃₀N₂O, was prepared from (-)-17-oxosparteine. The lactam N atom is essentially planar, lying 0.0150  (12)  Å out of the plane of its three bonded C atoms, and the C=O distance is 1.2315  (13)  Å. The conformation of the sparteine ring system is nearly identical to that of 17-oxosparteine.
