Abstract: In the title compound, [Fe(H2O)6](NO3)2·2C6H12N4·4H2O, the ferrous ion is coordinated by six O atoms from six water molecules and is in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry, lying on an inversion center. All the N atoms of the hexamethylenetetramine molecules, all the O atoms in the nitrate anions and all the water molecules contribute to the formation of hydrogen bonds. This leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network.
