cis-Dichlorobis(1,10-phenanthroline)iridium(III) hexafluorophosphate

Abstract: The crystal structure of the title compound, [IrCl₂(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂]PF₆, contains a monomeric [IrCl₂(phen)₂]⁺ cation (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline) and a hexafluorophosphate anion. The iridium(III) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two phen ligands [mean Ir-N distance 2.050  (5)  Å] and two Cl atoms [Ir-Cl = 2.343  (1)  Å], forming a distorted octahedral environment.
