Abstract: In the title compound, C₂₀H₁₉NO₂, the phenanthrene moiety is non-planar, with the dihydrobenzene ring distorted towards a twisted envelope conformation. The molecules are linked into chains along the a axis by O-HO hydrogen bonds; two other intermolecular hydrogen bonds interconnect these chains into a three-dimensional framework.
