Abstract: In the structure of the title compound, {(C₈H₁₂N)[MnCl₂(-Cl)(H₂O)₂]}_n, adjacent chains of [MnCl₄(H₂O)₂] octahedra running parallel to the c axis are connected through O-HCl hydrogen bonds to forms sheets perpendicular to the a axis. These sheets are separated by benzylmethylammonium cations, and an extensive network is formed via O-HCl hydrogen bonds within the chains, and N-HCl hydrogen bonds between the chains and the cations.
