Abstract: The molecule of the title compound, C15H10N2O, has two planar fragments. The phthalonitrile group forms a dihedral angle of 84.15  (8)° with the plane of the phenyl ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by one intermolecular hydrogen bond, two [pi]-[pi] interactions and one C-H...[pi] interaction.
