Abstract: In the title compound, [Ni(C13H11N3OS)(NH3)], the Ni atom is four-coordinate, with a distorted square-planar geometry. The 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde 4-methylthiosemicarbazonate ligand coordinates in a tridentate manner through the S, imine-N and O atoms, the ammonia molecule completing the coordination. The molecules are connected by N-H
N hydrogen bonds, through c-glide-plane translations, forming extended chains.
