Bis(piperidinium) tetrachlorozincate

Abstract: The title compound, (C₅H₁₂N)₂[ZnCl₄], contains a network of piperidinium cations and tetrahedral (ZnCl₄)^2- [d_av(Zn-Cl) = 2.2725  (6)  Å] anions. The crystal packing is influenced by cation-to-anion N-HCl hydrogen bonds (three simple and one bifurcated), resulting in a structure with layered character.
