3-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato-
3O,N,O')cobaltate(II) dihydrateAbstract: The title compound, [Co(H2O)6][Co(C7H3NO4)2]·2H2O, was obtained by a hydrothermal reaction of cobalt chloride hexahydrate, 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid, and Et3N (molar ratio 1:1:7). The compound contains six-coordinated CoII ions, with six O atoms of water molecules attached to the Co atoms in the two independent centrosymmetric cations and four O and two N atoms of two trans 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate groups bonded to the Co atom in the anion. Intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions are present, linking the cobalt complex cations, anions and uncoordinated water molecules in the crystal structure.
