2-[2-(Hydroxymethyl)phenyliminomethyl]phenol

Abstract: Molecules of the title compound, C₁₄H₁₃NO₂, are nearly planar. The molecular structure is stabilized by a strong intramolecular O-HN hydrogen bond between the imine and hydroxyl groups [ON = 2.614  (2)  Å]. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds [OO = 2.681  (3) and 2.641  (3)  Å] link inversion-related molecules into chains parallel to the a axis.
