[Tris(2-aminoethyl)amine]manganese(II) heptasulfidotetraantimony(III) hemihydrate

Abstract: Yellow crystals of the title compound, [Mn(dien)₂][Sb₄S₇]·0.5H₂O (dien = diethylenetriamine = C₄H₁₃N₃) were synthesized under solvothermal conditions by reacting MnSb₂S₄ with pure dien. The Mn²⁺ ion is in an octahedral environment of six N atoms of the tridentate dien molecules. The [Sb₄S₇]^2- units, and anions are joined together to form two-dimensional layers. In the layered anion, Sb₂S₂, Sb₄S₄ and Sb₈S₈ hetero-rings are found.
