Abstract: In the title compound, C16H16N2O·H2O, the azobenzene moiety has a trans configuration, and the two phenyl rings are inclined with respect to each other by 14.23 (17)°. There are intermolecular O-H
O and O-H
N hydrogen bonds involving the water molecule.
