5-(8-Hydroxyquinolyl)guanidinium dichloride

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₀H₁₂N₄O²⁺·2Cl^-, was synthesized by the reaction of 5-amino-8-hydroxyquinoline and cyanamide. The plane of the guanidinium group is perpendicular to the quinoline ring system, with a dihedral angle of 83.52 (10)°. N-HCl and O-HCl hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional network.
