Abstract: The anionic entity in the title octamolybdate, (C6H14N2)2[Mo8O26]·4H2O, has a chain structure in which the [Mo8O26]4- units share terminal O atoms. The O atoms in the chain are two-, three- and four-coordinate. The anionic unit occupies a special position of
site symmetry and the MoVI atoms are all octahedrally coordinated.
