Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₂₂N₃O₂S⁺·C₄H₅O₄^-, a well known agonist of the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor, consists of sumatriptan cations and succinate anions. The ten-membered indole ring system is planar. The succinate moiety is nearly perpendicular to the ethylamine side chain, with a (-)synclinal conformation. The structure is stabilized by O-HO, C-HO and C-H intermolecular interactions.
