Aquachlorobis(1,10-phenanthroline)cobalt(II) chloride dimethylformamide solvate

Abstract: The Co ion in the title compound, [CoCl(phen)₂(H₂O)]Cl·DMF [phen = 1,10-phenanthroline (C₁₂H₈N₂) and DMF is dimethylformamide (C₃H₇NO)], exists in a distorted octahedral coordination environment. The cations and anions are linked by O-HCl hydrogen-bond interactions across a center of inversion, forming a dimeric entity. A supramolecular network structure is consolidated by - stacking interactions and hydrogen bonds.
