2-[Hydroxy(4-nitrophenyl)methyl]cyclopent-2-en-1-one

Abstract: The Baylis-Hillman adduct of 4-nitrobenzaldehyde and 2-cyclopenten-1-one yielded a racemic compound, C₁₂H₁₁NO₄, in which there is one is a stereogenic C atom. A strong intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bond and a weak C-HO hydrogen bond link the molecules into a three-dimensional framework.
