Abstract: The title compound, C11H11Br2N5O·0.5CH3OH, was isolated from algae (Laurencia majuscula Lucas) collected from the South China Sea and its crystal structure was determined. It exhibits mild antibacterial and antineoplastic activity. The crystal structure has supramolecular layers with N-H...O and N-H...N hydrogen bonds. The methanol solvent molecule is threefold disordered.
