Abstract: The title compound, C₁₅Cl₈O, was separated from the products of a solvothermal reaction of metallic sodium and carbon tetrachloride in air in a pressured autoclave. The molecule is bisected by a crystallographic mirror plane and has essentially C_2v symmetry.
