Abstract: The Fe^III atom in the title complex, [Fe(HL)Cl₂(CH₃OH)]·CH₃OH, [H₂L = 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde (4-methoxybenzoyl)hydrazone, C₁₆H₁₅N₂O₄], is coordinated by two O atoms and one N atom of the tridentate hydrazone ligand, two chloride anions and one methanol molecule, thus defining a distorted octahedral geometry. A chain structure is constructed by hydrogen-bond interactions.
