Hexaaquachromium(III) triaquabis(benzene-1,3-dioxyacetato)sodate(I) pentahydrate

Abstract: The title complex, [Cr(H₂O)₆][Na(C₁₀H₈O₆)₂(H₂O)₃]·5H₂O (C₁₀H₈O₆ = benzene-1,3-dioxyacetate), consists of [Na(C₁₀H₈O₆)₂(H₂O)₃]^3- trianions, [Cr(H₂O)₆]³⁺ trications and five uncoordinated water molecules. The Cr cation has six-coordinate slightly distorted octahedral geometry, whereas the Na-ion coordination is distorted trigonal prismatic. The cations, anions and water molecules are linked by O-HO intermolecular hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.
