Abstract: The anion and the cation of the title compound, C6H16N+·I-, are located on special positions of site symmetry 3m. As a result, there is only a sixth of an ion pair in the asymmetric unit. The anion and cation are connected via an N-H
I hydrogen bond. Each methylene group is disordered over two equally occupied positions.
