1-Hydroxy-2,3,4,7-tetramethoxyxanthone from Swertia Chirayita

Abstract: The title compound, 1-hydroxy-2,3,4,7-tetramethoxy-9H-xanthen-9-one, C₁₇H₁₆O₇, was isolated from Swertia Chirayita and is found to be planar with only two of the methoxy substituents lying out of the plane of the molecule.
