Abstract: The title compound, C15H11ClN2S, has been prepared by the reaction of Lawesson's reagent with N-(2-chlorobenzoyl)-N'-(4-methylbenzoyl)hydrazine, under microwave irradiation and in the absence of solvent. It crystallizes with two molecules per asymmetric unit and X-ray analysis reveals that the three rings in both molecules are nearly coplanar. The molecules form stacks, in a head-to-tail manner, with intermolecular

interactions. Intermolecular C-H
N hydrogen bonds are also present.
