Abstract: The title compound, [Ni(C17H17N2O2)(NCS)(CH4O)], is a mononuclear nickel(II) complex. The NiII atom has a slightly distorted octahedral geometry, coordinated by two N and two O atoms of the Schiff base ligand, and one terminal N atom from a thiocyanate anion, together with a methanol molecule. In the crystal structure, the complex forms centrosymmetric O-H
O hydrogen-bonded dimers. The symmetry-related dimers are linked by weak O-H
S hydrogen bonds to form layers parallel to the bc plane.
