Abstract: In the title compound, [K(C₁₂H₂₄O₆)][Au(SCN)₂], the Au^I atom is in a linear configuration with respect to the coordinating S atoms. The encapsulation of the K⁺ ion by the 18-crown-6 ligand produces a large cation and prevents AuAu interactions within the extended structure. Both Au and K occupy inversion centers.
