Abstract: The Re atom in the title compound, (C₁₂H₁₃N₂)₂[ReCl₆]·2H₂O, lies on a crystallographic centre of inversion. The structure consists of discrete anions, cations and solvent water molecules. The solvent water molecule and the pyridinium group form intermolecular O-HCl and N-HO hydrogen bonds, respectively, giving a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded structure.
