Abstract: The Re atom in the title compound, (C12H13N2)2[ReCl6]·2H2O, lies on a crystallographic centre of inversion. The structure consists of discrete anions, cations and solvent water molecules. The solvent water molecule and the pyridinium group form intermolecular O-H
Cl and N-H
O hydrogen bonds, respectively, giving a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded structure.
