Piperazinediium 3-nitrophthalate dihydrate

Abstract: The title salt, C₄H₁₂N₂²⁺·C₈H₃NO₆^2-·2H₂O, crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pna2₁. All O atoms of the 3-nitrophthalate anion are involved in hydrogen bonding with the piperazine dication and the water molecules of crystallization.
