Abstract: The title compound, C₁₆H₂₂O₃S, exhibits a conformational arrangement that permits intramolecular O-HO-S hydrogen bonds. Intermolecular bifurcated hydorgen bonding between the hydroxyl H and the sulfone O atoms, observed in the unmethylated derivative, is disrupted by the presence of the methyl group at the 6-position.
