Abstract: The title compound, [CuCl₂(C₁₁H₂₄N₂)], crystallizes as four-coordinate monomers with distorted square-planar geometry. The complex is chiral and forms racemic crystals. Molecules which have an S-configuration at nitrogen have a -conformation of the five-membered chelate ring, and those with R-configuration have a -conformation. The title compound forms infinite one-dimensional chains via weak intermolecular ClH-C hydrogen contacts.
