Abstract: The reaction of 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzophenone with phosphorus pentachloride yielded the title compound, C₁₃H₈Cl₅O₂P. This compound can then be decomposed into a 2,5-dichlorobenzophenone by heating. There are two molecules of the title compound in the asymmetric unit.
