5-Ethoxy-5-(1-hydroxyethyl)-1-methylpyrrolidin-2-one

Abstract: In the title compound, C₉H₁₇NO₃, the pyrrolidine ring is almost planar, in contrast with the classical envelope conformation observed in other pyrrolidine-containing derivatives. The enantiomers are joined into a centrosymmetric dimer by complementary intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds between the hydroxyl and carbonyl groups.
