Redetermination of 5,5-dihydroxybarbituric acid trihydrate (alloxan tetrahydrate)

Abstract: The low temperature redetermination of 5,5-dihydroxybarbituric acid trihydrate, C₄H₄N₂O₅·3H₂O, (historically misnamed alloxan tetrahydrate) is reported here. The organic molecule has crystallographic mirror symmetry, as does one of the water molecules.
