Abstract: The low temperature redetermination of 5,5-dihydroxybarbituric acid trihydrate, C4H4N2O5·3H2O, (historically misnamed alloxan tetrahydrate) is reported here. The organic molecule has crystallographic mirror symmetry, as does one of the water molecules.
