2-Nitrobenzaldehyde 4-nitrophenylhydrazone

S. Shan, X.-J. Wang, W.-X. Hu and D.-J. Xu

Abstract: Crystals of the title compound, C13H10N4O4, were obtained from a condensation reaction of 2-nitrobenzaldehyde and 4-nitrophenylhydrazine. Significantly different C-N(nitro) and N-O bond distances are observed for the o- and p-nitro groups. The aromatic C-C bonds close to the imino group are longer than the others in the same benzene ring. The overlapped arrangement of nearly parallel benzene rings from neighboring molecules and centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.9370  (9)  Å suggest [pi]-[pi] stacking.
