Abstract: The carboxylate dianion in the polymeric title compound, [Zn(C₉H₆O₅)(H₂O)₂]_n, which is disordered over a centre of inversion, links diaquazinc(II) units into a zigzag chain; the chains interact through hydrogen bonds to form layers. The six-coordinate metal atom lies on a special position of site symmetry 2.
