Abstract: The title compound, C₁₈H₂₃NO₃, crystallizes with the piperidine ring in a chair conformation. A spiro junction links the indanone ring system and the N-tert-butoxycarbonylpiperidine ring; the spiro C atom has distorted tetrahedral geometry.
