Abstract: In the title compound, C21H44S2, the molecular skeleton including both terminal S atoms has an all-trans conformation. The molecules form layers with a thickness of c/2 and the long axis of the molecule is inclined to the ab plane in the crystal structure. This molecular arrangement is similar to that of the smectic C structure of liquid crystals.
