Abstract: The title compound, C₃₀H₅₀O, was isolated from the Chinese medicinal plant Aster tataricus L., which has been used for the relief of coughs and as an expectorant. In the molecule, a tetracyclic ring system, with all six-membered rings in chair conformations, is linked to a C₆ side chain.
