(Z)-3-[(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)hydrazono]-4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-thienyl)butan-1-one

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₉F₃N₄O₅S, was prepared from 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-thienyl)butane-1,3-dione and 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The crystal structure shows that strong intramolecular hydrogen bonding determines the conformation of the individual molecules, while intermolecular hydrogen bonding and aromatic -stacking interactions stabilize the structure in the solid state.
