Abstract: The title compound, [Zn(C8H7O3)2(H2O)2], is a mononuclear complex. The ZnII atom lies on a twofold axis and is coordinated by four O atoms from two 4-formyl-2-methoxyphenolate anionic ligands and two O atoms from two water molecules, to form a very distorted tetragonal-bipyramidal geometry. The formyl O atoms of the ligand, the water O atoms and the phenolate O atoms contribute to the formation of a hydrogen-bonded three-dimensional network.
