(3S,6R)-3-Benzyloxymethyl-6-methyl-1,4-dioxane-2,5-dione

Abstract: The chiral centres in the dilactone moiety of the title compound, C₁₃H₁₄O₅, are in the configuration 3S,6R. The ring itself has a somewhat flattened twist-boat conformation. C-HO interactions join the molecules into a two-dimensional network running parallel to the (101) plane.
