(2R,3R)-Diacetyltartaric acid anhydride

Abstract: The title compound, C₈H₈O₇, was synthesized from tartaric acid and acetic anhydride. The structure is stabilized by an intermolecular hydrogen bond from an H atom of a methyl group to a carbonyl O atom on the five-membered ring.
