Abstract: In the title compound, C₂₃H₄₈S₂, the molecular skeleton, including both terminal S atoms, has an all-trans conformation. The molecules form layers in the crystal. The long axis of the molecule is inclined to the layer plane, similar to the smectic C phase of liquid crystals.
