(Z)-2-(3-Thienyl)-3-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)acrylonitrile

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₆H₁₅NO₃S, was prepared by base-catalyzed reaction of 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde with thiophene-3-acetonitrile. The olefinic bond has Z geometry and thienyl ring flip disorder is observed.
