(E,E,E)-1,6-Bis(4-nitrophenyl)hexa-1,3,5-triene

Abstract: In the title compound, C₁₈H₁₄N₂O₄, the torsion angles of the single bonds between the hexatriene chain and 4-nitrophenyl rings are 18.0  (2) and -0.7  (2)°. The molecules are linked weakly via intermolecular C-HO hydrogen bonds to form sheets. These sheets are linked further by NO dipole interactions between the nitro groups and aromatic - stacking interactions, to form a three-dimensional framework.
